Great Lakes Eye Centre Email Policy

This document contains important information regarding email communications with our clinic. Please read it thoroughly before providing your consent to participate in any email communications. Please be aware that you may withdraw your consent at any time if you no longer wish to communicate via email with Great Lakes Eye Centre.

Our clinic may use email to communicate with patients regarding appointment specifics and other relevant information pertaining to their appointment. While email is a convenient method of communication, it is important you do not disclose any personal health information via email as there is always a risk it could be intercepted by a party other than the intended recipient. All information sent and received on our end is kept confidential, however there are inherent risks associated with unencrypted email as there is a possibility that information can be intercepted while in transit to the recipient. As email is an unencrypted form of communication, please be advised that any personal health information, including health card number and details regarding any medical conditions or symptoms will not and should not be sent via unencrypted email. For these reasons, any questions pertaining to a diagnosis or treatment will not be addressed via email and you should avoid disclosing any personal health information over unencrypted email.

Our clinic may use email communication for scheduling of appointments and any instructions specific to your appointment (eg. COVID pre-screening questions and instructions for your office visit). No information regarding health history, diagnosis or any treatments will be discussed over email.
