Dr. Calotti knew early in his training that surgery was where he was meant to be.

After earning his medical degree (MD) from the University of Toronto, he pursued his Ophthalmology residency at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated with first honours. He went on to complete a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital before returning home to build something of his own.

In 2007, he founded Great Lakes Eye Centre in Brantford, Ontario. What began as a small practice has grown into one of the region’s most trusted ophthalmic surgical centres. Over the course of more than 25 years and  thousands of procedures, Dr. Calotti has helped patients restore their vision, reclaim their independence, and get back to the lives they love.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology (DABO). He holds surgical privileges at Brantford General Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Calotti serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at McMaster University, teaching residents and medical students, and as a clinical instructor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. He is committed to shaping the next generation of eye care professionals the same way his own mentors shaped him.

When he is not in clinic or the operating room, Dr. Calotti is an avid traveller who speaks multiple languages and has a deep love of exploring the world. He is a proud Manchester United supporter and follows the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons with the kind of loyalty only someone who trained in Detroit could fully understand. He will openly tell you that the one thing he has not made peace with after all these years is the Canadian winter.
