About Great Lakes

Where Surgical Precision Meets Unmatched Care

Great Lakes Eye Centre (GLEC) is a specialist surgical practice focused on the medical and surgical management of eye disease. Our work covers refractive cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal conditions, dry eye disease, and oculoplastics. Every patient seen at our centre has been referred by an optometrist or physician, and we take that responsibility seriously.

About Great Lakes

Dr. Fadi Calotti

Dr. Fadi Calotti is the founder of Great Lakes Eye Centre and a board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 25 years of surgical experience.

Since opening the practice in 2007, he has helped thousands of patients restore their vision with compassionate, patient-centered care. In addition to caring for patients, he teaches future physicians and optometrists through his roles at McMaster University and the University of Waterloo.

Refractive Cataract Surgery

If your optometrist has indicated that a cataract is developing, rest assured that you are exploring a highly routine and treatable solution. Dr. Calotti is a premier regional surgeon who has successfully performed thousands of advanced cataract procedures, helping patients reclaim clear vision and everyday confidence. By replacing the eye’s clouded natural lens with a premium implant custom-tailored to your unique physiology, we frequently help patients achieve crisp, vibrant vision, often greatly reducing their reliance on glasses.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a progressive condition affecting the optic nerve, often developing silently without early warning signs. If you have been referred to our center for an assessment, our team will conduct a comprehensive evaluation using state-of-the-art diagnostic technology. We will discuss our findings clearly, map out what to expect, and design a personalized management plan tailored to your lifestyle. Our primary objective is always the proactive preservation of your long-term vision.

Diabetic Eye Disease

Managing diabetes requires a dedicated partnership to safeguard your overall health, particularly your vision. Fluctuations in blood sugar can gradually affect the delicate blood vessels within the retina, occasionally developing without noticeable symptoms. We utilize advanced retinal imaging to monitor your eye health meticulously, explaining your results in clear, plain language while offering targeted medical options to protect your sight over the long term.
